Hi Ya Hildy!

"And that my friends, is my farewell to the newspaper game. I'm gonna be a woman, not a news-getting machine. I'm gonna have babies and take care of them. Give 'em cod liver oil and watch their teeth grow...So long you wage-slaves...When you're crawling up fire escapes and getting kicked out of front doors, and eating Christmas dinners in one-armed joints, don't forget your pal, Hildy Johnson!..And when the road beyond unfolds..."

holiday hangover

sorry for not posting lately. we went to corpus christi for turkey day and spent a day in laredo/nuevo laredo (mexico). we hadn't seen my family since the wedding almost two years ago. my uelita hadn't yet met the new addition.
aside from normal reunions, pictures and whatnot, we had a small adventure smuggling maggie, our yorkiepoo, across the border, it was loads of fun. tho we long suspected, our older daughter's inability to keep a secret was proven. read: secretly smuggle a dog across the border without soaking the leather seats with her sweat bullets and without making the border patrol think we have 200 kilos of coke in our tires.
another plus from the border-- we aquired San Marcos blankets for the girls. yes, some of the nostalgia is gone, but my how convenient it was to shop in the first ever store on the u.s. side (albeit 110 degrees inside) that sells these incredibly unmatched blankies.
when i was a kid, our parents haggled and bought ours (you only get one for your childhood) off the dusty streets of tamaulipas.

half the laundry is done and i've yet to remove everything from the suitcases or take a shower, as i now have a baby attached to my hip who will not tolerate my absence. i was able to do a little bit of christmas shopping as the baby will fall asleep in the car and stay that way for half my shopping time.
my hopes of turducken and tamales for christmas are slowly dwindling -- with our bank account and my patience.
